A few things tourists need to know about Egypt culture

Before you make that Egyptian tour, you better arm yourself with some knowledge about the culture of the country. This information will keep you in good stead and help you during your trip without facing any awkward or uncomfortable situation. Egypt culture is largely influenced by Islam, the chief religion of the country. So, the nation is very much conservative especially in terms of dressing up and in general lifestyle. So, one of the most important things which every travel guide and tour operator tells the visitors is to cover up as much as possible.

Egypt culture

You are not required to cover your body from head to toe. You can still wear your normal western outfits. But do not wear dresses which reveal your cleavage, midriff or shoulder. Wearing a sleeveless top is also inadvisable. And try not to wear shorts which are too short and give away too much of legs. In case you wear such small dresses, then you can face some embarrassment since the local men may stare at you. They are not quite used to women wearing revealing dresses.

Plus, you may provoke the ire of some local people who may object to your attires. Also, you won’t be allowed to visit some local attractions especially the temples and mosques. Therefore, wear your dresses without baring much skin. However, when you are on the beaches, you can relax the rules a bit. But still, do not slip into the tiniest of bikinis which you can garner.

Egypt culture is also about showing respect to deity. Even if you are a foreign tourist with little knowledge or respect for their Gods, you must not do things which can infuriate them. Do not spit inside or outside religious attractions, do not make fun of any custom or tradition, and do not take photographs where photography is prohibited.
